Forum Designer Payments (2011 - 2018)

ADMIN

LogoGround
2014-10-27

Designer payments are processed every month between the 20th and the 24th of the month. Payments may be processed a few days earlier or later.

At the moment, payments are sent via PayPal only. We are looking into alternative payment methods, but we cannot yet say for sure if or when alternative payment methods will become available.

Only completed projects are eligible for payment. In order to complete a project you must have uploaded the final logo files for the client.

The payout amount is 100% of the profit from your completed projects. We deduct PayPal's commission first, so the payout amount will be slightly less than the sale amount. LogoGround does not take a percentage.

If you have questions about payments, please post them below :)

---

Update 2015-05
We are implementing a new rule:
Designers who make their first sale on LogoGround will no longer be eligible for payment at the very next pay cycle. Their payments will be delayed for 30 days. Designers who have at least one prior sale on LogoGround will not be affected and will receive payments as normal. We realize that this is an inconvenience to new designers. Unfortunately it is a measure that we must take to prevent fraud on LogoGround.

We are looking into Payoneer, Skrill and payments by check, but no word on when or if any of these will become available as payment options on LogoGround. We know that we are excluding brilliant designers from countries where PayPal is not available and we are working hard on this.

Hi,

Two months ago, I sold one logo to a client but the client asked for a revision, which I have already provided a revision as requested. However, the client did not response to my revision (for almost two months now) and my project was stuck in the "waiting for client review" stage for some time (as a result I haven't got any payment for the logo). I tried following up with the client but no response. Also tried to contact logoground staff but no response either. How should I proceed with the project to get the payment? Please advise. Thank you.

ADMIN

That's a difficult one. We've had a few cases like that. We can either issue a refund and make the logo available again on the site or we can unlock the project so that the designer can post the final logo files and get paid.

My initial thought was to issue refunds since the client did not access the vector file, but it does happen that clients respond months later and are understandably upset because the logo they thought they had purchased was put up for sale again and bought by someone else. The client is buying the copyright. The design is their property, with or without the vector file.

Feedback welcome.

icepopo, I've unlocked the project for you so you will be able to access the "Final Logo" tab for the project.

Hello ajleroux,

I have the same problem as icepopo, could you please help me to solve this problem?

In my opinion, we should set a deadline/timeline on the project for both designer & client. If the designer didn't respond/submit revision within time the client get a refund, but if the client didn't make any decision then the "Final Logo" tab will be unlocked.

Thank you.

ADMIN

@ o_O
Cool username :)
I have unlocked the project for you.

LogoGround deadlines are: 1 business day per revision for the designer and 30 days total for the client.

We do not want to be too strict with the client deadline because sometimes the client needs only another change or two after the 30 day deadline expires. We feel allowing this and ending up with a happy client is definitely worth the extra time/effort so we do not currently have plans to automate the cut-off. Of course if a project runs far over 30 days, as in your case, then we can manually unlock it.

Hello LogoGround

I have a question regarding status of the sold logo. In accounting bar it was presented that the logo was sold but it is in the pending status for month or so, can you gave me some clarification regarding that status and when finally money will be paid out or transferred to account and available to designer.

In addition, there is no any request from the buyer of the logo, is that the normal way or the request from the buyer can be expected in the future.

Best Regards!

@Mashke: The final logo files were submitted to the client after the last pay date so this logo will be paid out at the next pay date which will be more or less 20 December. You did not respond to the client's request for changes and the logo was re-assigned to a LogoGround staff designer so the payment will not be for the full sale amount. Hello LogoGround

I am really sorry to hear that client asked revision of the logo but there is no answer from me.

However, I have been checking the account very often but I could not find any visible sign that logo I made was sold. In addition I did not receive any kind of information neither email regarding any logo sold nor buyer request for revision. So in that light, I did not have a chance to answered on any request.

Please do not consider me as an irresponsible person or person not willing to follow the rules. On the current account I still do not have any information regarding the clients or projects, so I did not have proper chance to react.

Are there any other possibilities for me to receive the on time email, because I never receive any kind of the feedback and could you please gave me some guidelines and instruction and clear direction to receive some of the needed information's.

One more time sorry for any inconvenience, but please gave me some support and guidelines.

Best Regards!

Hi Mashke,

Not to worry. This will not count against you in any way for future sales and we understand that designers are not always able to respond to clients within 1 business day. Remember that you have a pause function in your account that you can use whenever you will not be available to work with clients.

Here is what happened with this sale:
The logo was sold on Tuesday 2014-10-21
We sent you two emails on the same day (to your Yahoo email address on file)
There was no response from you the next day. We decided to allow more time.
When there was still no response by Monday 2014-10-27 we assigned the project to an LG staff designer

From 2014-10-21 to 2014-10-27 the project was in your account under "open projects". It does not show up there now because it was moved to an LG staff designer.

If you did not receive our emails please check that we have your correct email address in your account settings and whitelist our support email address so that our emails to you are not blocked. Consider creating a Gmail account. We have had trouble in the past getting emails through to Yahoo email accounts.

Email is not 100% reliable so we recommend logging into your LG account daily to check for sales and feedback from clients in open projects.

Hello!

Is there any chance for designers to get payments faster than once at month? Or it's not possible because of client's support?
And how things are going with additional payment options such as Skrill, Payoneer?

By the way, want to thank LogoGround for great service here. Keep up a good work!

Thanks xDick.

Our current development focus is on completing LogoGround's automated accounting system. Once that's done it will be much easier for us to change from monthly to weekly payments - with proper tracking and reporting built in. Watch this space!

Alternative payment methods is high on our priority list, but apart from the technical implementation there are legal and business process challenges that we have to navigate. I don't want to make promises we can't keep. For the foreseeable future payments will unfortunately be through PayPal only. We will post updates to the forum if/when alternative payment methods become available.

Hello,
I recently sold a logo and received an email alert which jogged my memory of this site. The last time I was on it was 2012. Apparently in that time span I sold another logo but after reviewing my paypal records I never received a payment within the month it was sold or after. I do realize this was some time ago but is there any way to find out where the funds went to.

Hi hmmbird,

Welcome back to LG!

The payment you received yesterday was for the old sale. If I remember correctly, we did not have a PayPal address for you. Did you enter your PayPal address recently? If so then that explains it.

Your new sale had not been finalized yesterday when the payments for February were processed so it moves over to next month.

For the record:
Anyone with pending funds should not view this case as standard. Normally we will not hold your money for years. We will switch over to our improved accounting system in the near future, with weekly payments hopefully coming soon after. At that point the maximum period that we can hold funds will be 1 month.

2015-03-02

Hi Kaian,

The logo has been sold and copyright has transferred to the buyer. We can not restore it to unsold because we can not sell the same logo more than once. Legally the person who bought the logo is now the only one who has the right to sell it. It is important that you understand this clearly because this rule is central to how LogoGround operates.

The email bug that you mention is a known issue pertaining to settings and not the reason why the email did not reach you. If the email did not reach you it might be that it was mistakenly filtered out as spam. We recommend that designers log into LogoGround at least once a day to check on sales and requests for revisions from clients. You should not rely on email notifications because we can obviously not guarantee that all emails from us to you will always be sent/received without any problems.

I apologize if I did not understand your question correctly.

Hi,

To my big surprise I received today a payment for two logos I sold in May. I was ready to wait for the next pay cycle. Thanks a lot! You provide great service to us designers and you still do it for free.

Unfortunately there is also a sad news. I found that PayPal charged its fee twice. And I've never experienced that before. Here is how it goes:

1. I sold two logos for $550 USD total
2. Today I received email from PayPal user (member@paypal.com) informing me about your payment $527,95 USD and explaining about the fee.
Everything fine. Every site is charged by PayPal when paying designers. And I always get emails like this.
3. But when I logged to my PayPal account there was only $501,75 USD. There was another fee of $26,17 USD deducted. And I've never experienced anything like this before. Amount in email was always equal to amount on account.

Now, you do great job and I really think you should charge us with some (hopefully not to high) fees. You deserve it. But having PayPal robbing us feels quite the opposite. Is there any way of explaining this phenomenon of double fee? Maybe it's the matter of some mistake. I'm ready to pay more but to those who deserve it.

ADMIN
ajleroux
2015-05-25

Hi Sculptor,

It's our pleasure and thanks for your kind comments.

We are aware of the PayPal fee issue. Essentially what happens is that PayPal takes their fee when the client sends the payment to our LG PayPal account and then they take their fee again when the money is paid from our account to yours because they consider it a separate transaction.

We have spoken to PayPal about this and there is a (very complex) setup we can do where the money never actually enters our LG PayPal account but is held by PayPal and released to the designer directly when we tell them to release it. That way it is only one transaction and their fee is charged only once. We are working on it.

DESIGNER

Ajleroux,

Thanks for your explanation. I'm aware PayPal is a tough partner. They won't let me for example to withdraw money in USD. They want first to convert money to my country currency using their rates (guess why).
So, don't stress about it if there is too much trouble involved. They try to force monopoly on us - hopefully they won't succeed in the end.

For your last sale the client was unhappy with the files you provided. There is a high risk of a refund/chargeback with this sale and we have therefor decided to exercise our option to delay the payment until the project is completed to the client's satisfaction.

Please follow up with the client and do your best to ensure that they have the logo in a file format that they can work with. We will review the project at the next pay cycle.

Hy Admin,

The client wants the same logo with 5 different "tagline".
I said he bought a logo no 5 (the rest is extra work, so extra payment).
I told him to tell me what he wants from the 5, and he gave no answer.
Check dialogue that I had with the customer.
Am I wrong somewhere ?, I do not think.

Byman, you are right, if the client wants five different versions of the logo you can ask for an additional payment. It is important though that you resolve any issues or problems. Properly explaining the situation to the client is a good start. Simply telling him that he paid for one, not five, is not an explanation and is unlikely to lead to a resolution.

The client also asked for a higher resolution file and - as far as I could determine - did not receive one.

Hi Kaian,

You have three sales on record:

1. 2014-11-27 Project not finalized
2. 2015-06-12 Payment delayed by one pay cycle per new payments rule
3. 2015-07-13 Payment due

The last two sales will likely be paid out at this pay cycle (later today or tomorrow), but you should include high resolution JPG versions of each logo in the ZIP file that you post for the client. This is explained in the designer handbook. In both cases you gave low resolution JPG files and EPS files. It is not a very serious issue but I would recommend fixing it today so that both projects are 100% correct when payments are processed otherwise the payment might be delayed.

I see that an admin warned you about this in a previous post in this thread. We want to get designers paid quickly, but the high-res files are part of what we promise clients before they order. If you cannot provide the correct files we will reassign the logo to a LogoGround staff designer in order to meet the client's requirements - which means that you will loose a large percentage of the money from this sale. I hope you understand.

Hi,

I am new on logoground and I sold my first logo on 2015-09-09. I have completed handover with no problems but my status on accounting page is still pending and my account balance is $0. I just want to check with you if is this situation normal.

Thanks,

Hi Webeenk,

Yes, it is normal. Designer payments usually happen on or close to the 20th of each month for all logos finalized in the preceding 30 days, but a designer's first payment on LogoGround is moved back by one pay cycle. For details please see this post:

Hi Ridwan,

One of the two projects you are referring to has not been finalized. As you know designers are only paid when a project has been finalized.

The second project was finalized in time for our September payments but when we checked the project there was an unanswered request for additional files from the client and as a result the project was still in your "Open projects" list. I see that you did provide the files that the client requested so that project will be paid with the October payments.

If you finalize the other project before the payment date (around the 20th) you will be paid for both in October.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

Hi LogoGround,

Could you help me to finalize my project? It's been a month since the client received the final files by email.
Thank you.

Hi o_O,

We would love to assist but you did not specify which project you are having a problem with.

Is it the "Cross Exchange" project? If so, we cannot process your payment unless we can see on the system that the client received the final logo files from you. If you email the logo files to the client you should upload them to the site as well. That way we can confirm that the project is finalized and we can release your payment.

DESIGNER

Hi LogoGround,

Yes, it's "Cross Exchange" and the final file is #17. Here's the link of the files which received by the client;

o_O,

Our system is set up to automatically generate a list of all designers eligible for payment each month. Your name will not be on that list unless the client accepts the logo on LogoGround and the final logo files are posted on LogoGround. Only then does the project status change to "finalized" and your name is then automatically added to the list for payments to be sent. It would be great if we could have a system that allows designers to post the final files in any way they want but it would be impractical if thousands of designers each did it their own way. That would make our job nearly impossible. Maybe in the future we can expand the system to allow alternative ways to work with the client, but for now the rule is that the files must be posted on LogoGround.

DESIGNER

Hi LogoGround,

I already contact the client, but still no response. Would you mind to help me to send a reminder to the client? I apologize for the trouble, I realize that I made a mistake by sending the files directly to client's email instead of Logoground uploader.

Thank you for your response!

ADMIN

o_O,

Now that you replied to the client's message on the site he/she will have received a notification from LogoGround. Hopefully you will hear back from the client soon.

It is important to mention: the client might not be right about the alignment being off-center but you should accommodate their request anyway. It is better to have a client that is happy with the design than it is to have a design that is perfectly centered and an unhappy client :)

DESIGNER

After your logo is approved and the final logo uploaded, does the client have a month to take the logo they want?

What happens if:

The client disappears and does not take the files (are you told if they do not)
Can you then resell the files if they are not taken.
Can the clients be contacted to ask if they still want them.
If the client takes the files and pays do we still have to wait a month for first payment?

ADMIN
LogoGround
2015-10-22

Hi Quicky,

1. The client pays the full amount right at the start.
2. The client then has a month to complete the revisions process with the designer. (We allow revisions to go on a little longer if needed)
3. The client approves one of the revisions and the designer posts the final logo files.
4. The money is paid from LogoGround to the designer at the very next pay date. (Payments run once a month, around the 20th of the month)

The only exception is when this is the designer's first LogoGround payment. First payments are moved forward by one month. All payments after that are paid normally.

During the 30 day revision period the client may request a full refund. If they do they lose all rights to the design, the project is cancelled and the logo is automatically placed back on the site as "for sale".

We do not monitor if the client takes/uses the files. The files remain available to them on the site forever. They can download/redownload them anytime.

If it happens that a client disappears before a logo is finalized we allow the 30 days to pass and we can then unlock the project for you to allow you to post the logo files and get paid. In these cases you post the EPS and the high-res JPG of the original logo as it appeared on LogoGround. The logo remains the property (and copyright) of the client even if they do not participate in the revisions process.

I hope that helps:)

Hi guys,

Received payment today (thanks) but there appears to be an error.

The site indicates a logo was sold for $100 minus Paypal's fee of $4.20.
I received $40 rather than ~$90.

As the FAQ states "Your share is 100% of the profit, the profit being the price of the logo minus any processing fees related to the sale. These fees are usually around 5% of the sale or less." I can only assume that this is a mistake.

Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

@TomVerre

When a logo sells or when a client sends feedback the designer has one business day to respond. If the designer does not then LogoGround will re-assign the project to a LogoGround staff designer in order to ensure that we deliver what the client paid for.

Your logo sold on 2015-10-05
You posted a message for the client on 2015-10-06
The client responded 2015-10-14
Client asked for an update 2015-10-16
LogoGround staff designer took over on 2015-10-19 when there was still no response from you.

For details on how this affects the payment see:

@TomVerre,

You will no longer be able to access the project to see the correspondence from the client. I've just sent you an email with a screenshot of the client's responses. Note the dates upper right.

About the email notifications not arriving: By virtue of our system functioning normally I assume that they were sent but we can not and do not guarantee that email notifications from us to you will always be sent/received successfully. Relying on email notifications alone is at the designer's risk. We recommend that designers log into the site once a day to stay on top of new sales and client feedback. It is not an ideal system, but it is what we can offer designers at the moment. We will be looking into adding text notifications at a later date.

You're welcome to reply here or to reply to the email.

1. This is your first sale. Our rule is that first payments are delayed by one pay cycle, so your payment is scheduled for December. (http://www.logoground.com/discuss.php?topic=32)

I also have the same issue regarding double payment deduction by paypal, faced by Sculptor earlier. Today I received payment for a sold logo for $300. LogoGround transferred $288 by deducting $12 as PayPal's Commission. PayPal again deducts $12.97 and the final amount I receive is $275.03. The total deduction is $24.97. When I checked my earlier payments deduction by LogoGroud and PayPal, it's the same case with all earlier payments.

I got answer to my issue by your reply to sculptos thread. But you said that you are working on this. This you addressed in May 2015. I hope all designers (Including you) facing the same issue even after 9 months. How long it will take to get rid of this PayPals robbing issue? Is there any deadline LG set for this?

Logoswim the issue is extremely complex. The double processing fee is how PayPal is set up. Designer payments usually occur around the 20th of each month. Payments may come a few days earlier or later. Designers who make their first sale on LogoGround will not be eligible for payment at the very next pay cycle. Their payments will be delayed for 30 days. Designers who have at least one prior sale on LogoGround will not be affected and will receive payments as normal.

We group sales together and send them as one payment if possible. Note the first payments rule mentioned in the opening post. It looks like this will be your first payment from LogoGround, so this time both payments will be moved forward to next month.

The delay is only for first payments. All your future payments will be sent at the soonest available payment date after the final logo files are delivered to the client.

I have yet to receive my payment. I sent you a message several days ago but no response back ...

My paypal account is set up properly. I haven't modified anything in it since all the information fields are filled. My profile is 80% complete. I can make it 100% if I have an US bank account but I'm not from US.

I've received douzens of payments in the last 5 years and no one reported any issue.
What could be the issue right now? I've checked my profile many times and all seems to be in order. Plus shouldn't I receive a message on my paypal such as "Someone is trying to send you money but there's something wrong with your profile"?

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

We just resent your payment and it was successful this time. If you didn't change anything then there may have been a temporary issue.
Note that neither a US bank account nor being physically in the US are requirements for payment. Most of the payments we send every month are to designers outside the US. A working PayPal account is the only requirement.

While inspecting the payment I noticed paypal took another fee from the amount that you've sent me.
What is the paypal commission that you first took for? In other words, why am I charged 2 fees?

ADMIN
LogoGround
2016-07-28

We are aware of the double fee issue. To quote an explanation given higher up in this thread:

"Essentially what happens is that PayPal takes their fee when the client sends the payment to our LG PayPal account and then they take their fee again when the money is paid from our account to yours because they consider it a separate transaction.
We have spoken to PayPal about this and there is a (very complex) setup we can do where the money never actually enters our LG PayPal account but is held by PayPal and released to the designer directly when we tell them to release it. That way it is only one transaction and their fee is charged only once. We are working on it."

ADMIN

We worked on the double fee issue for a while, but we had to redirect our attention to other things on the site that needed fixing or improvement. We hope to get back to the double fee issue soon. We appreciate everyone's patience.

The double fee situation isn't cool, but it is not something that we are currently working on. We are focusing all development time on improving our email delivery rate. Once that is sorted out we have high priority changes that must be made to the site code, changes that are essential to the future security of the site. Unfortunately the PayPal double fee issue is lower down on our list of priorities. We will get to it as soon as the higher priority issues are off our to-do list. Until then, many thanks for your patience.

ADMIN
LogoGround
2017-04-24

@shadman there was no error. According to LogoGround rules designers have one business day after the sale to send the logo files or logo revisions if the buyer requests changes to the logo. Your logo sold on Thursday, March 23. By the end of business on the next day the logo was reassigned to a LogoGround staff designer because you had not responded to the client.

Please see this help page for a detailed explanation of how it works:
http://www.logoground.com/abandoned-logos.php

Logo reassignment is also explained in the FAQ, designer handbook and the user agreement:

http://www.logoground.com/user-agreement.php

We send an automated email notification for every sale.

Our email notifications work perfectly at the moment and there were no problems with email notifications on the day that your notification would have been sent out, but we have stated numerous times here on the forum and on the web site that we recommend checking the site once a day as we can not guarantee that email notifications will always be sent/received without any problems.

When a project is reassigned it is moved to a LogoGround staff designer. This is why the project is no longer visible in your account.

DESIGNER

ADMIN
ajleroux
2017-04-24

Hi Shadman,

You should not assume that LogoGround works like other sites. I highly recommend reading the designer handbook (linked above).

There is a good reason why we ask designers to deliver the files: We want clients to have at least one contact with the designer of their logo. They often have questions or want the logo in a specific format, like PSD with layers etc. By asking the designer to post the files we make sure that the buyer has the opportunity to speak to the expert who made the logo. It is a far better service than simply automating it all and leaving the client to figure things out.

It also creates an opportunity for the designer to gain a long-term client. Chances are that your logo buyer also needs business cards etc. By creating a point of contact between the designer and the buyer we more effectively channel the spin-off business to the designer.

That is a huge problem for us designers you can imagine...

@ajleroux

Regarding the issue with PayPal taking the fee twice: Using PayPal Adaptive Payments is fairly straight forward and can be setup by your developer relatively fast. With LG acting as a middleman, a delayed payment can be setup and PayPal will only take the fee once. See: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/products/adaptive-payments/

Hi Fierda Designs,

Although the project has been finalized and was eligible for payment, we decided to delay payment because there was (and still is) and unanswered file request from the buyer. Please see your open projects for details. We also posted a commend on your accounting page to explain the reason for the delayed payment.

To clarify, due to the high volume of payments passing through our account, PayPal asked us to submit additional documentation to verify our business details. We provided all the documentation a couple of weeks ago. Today PayPal informed us that two of the documents need to be updated, one of which is a bank document which we will only be able to submit to them on Monday. I spoke to PayPal over the phone and they assured me that, once they receive these documents, we can resume payments straight away. My sincere apology for the delay. Barring any other issues, payments will be sent on Monday afternoon/evening. We appreciate your patience until then.

Ajleroux,

please, can you let me know if my payment goes in this cycle. Usually this isn't important to me, but I've received some other payments on my Pay Pal, so I don't know should I wait on this one for a day or two. Namely, I must pay my taxes in seven days from receiving the payment and if my payment for a sold logo will come soon, I will wait for it and pay taxes together with other payments.

Thank you.

Hi Zveronika,

I can confirm that your name is on our list for this pay cycle.

I expected that we would be able to send all payments today. PayPal stated that we would be able to resume payments "right away" after submitting the documentation. It is now 7 hours since we submitted the documentation and we have yet to hear back from them. I will phone our PayPal contact again in the morning to see what the reason for the delay is. I think it is safe to wait with your tax payment as I'm sure LogoGround payments will be sent soon, but unfortunately it is out of our hands at the moment and I can't say for sure.

There are different reason why paypal may put a payment on hold, but nothing from out side. Usually it is because the receiving paypal account is new. I would recommend waiting a few days and contacting paypal if nothing changes.

Serious question about paypal commission listed in the accounting tab. I noticed that before, You list a paypal commission fee. That fee is deducted from the payments you send, i was asuming its a charge that paypal takes for the transfer yet it seems that the final payment delivered has another commission chunk taken on top of what You charge. So whos paying the commision? it looks like its me, in which case why are you taking a paypal fee from my payments if im still paying it?

Paypal fee is 2.9% so for example if i make 300USD

300-2.9%=291.3 which is what i would expect to land in my wallet.
instead what i get is
300-4%(paypal commision?)=288
288-2.9%(definitely paypal commission)=279.648. ~~280 and thats what i get
So not only is the paypal fee charged twice, and i can verify paypal charges me a fee because its all listed in the system, what you deduct from me is higher than paypal commission. Granted by only 1% but still...

Could You explain?

With the current loss of the value of a dollar i find myself not getting more money but less than i expected even tho i increased my productivity. Troubling, because i got plans i already postponed two years because of finances...

Gregory

How does it really works with paypal fees ? I sold two logos in total of 500 USD, on the logoground on accounting it says that fee takes 20 USD of 500 USD. It left me 479.90 USD and I was expecting that paypal will take less that 20 USD (because it took 20 USD from 500, so it should take less from 479.90) But after receiving the payment it says that from 479.90 USD paypal took 26.25 USD. Why does it takes 26.25 from 479.90 and 20.10 from 500 ? How big paypal fees actually are ?

Thanks Ortega Graphics.

Gregory M and eclipse42, the PayPal fee is normally 2.9% plus $0.30 USD, but not always. Things like sending money from one country to another impacts the fee.

Rather than working with a specific percentage or formula we (from time to time) look at the actual amount that PayPal deducts and we set up our system to deduct the same amount. That way we leave the maths up to PayPal and we know that our deduction is exactly the right amount, down to the last cent.

We will get back to working on the double fee issue as soon as higher priority tasks are completed.

Hi Hiacynta,

Our pleasure :)

The double fee issue has been discussed higher up. Scroll up to my last response about this on 2017-05-25.

To summarize: We're working on it, but we usually have higher priority items on our development to-do list that need our attention, so I can't promise that we will have it sorted out soon.

Hi Silveria,

Normally your payment would be sent in the first pay cycle after the logo is finalized, but this is your first payment on LG and first payments are usually delayed by one pay cycle. (see opening post)

Not to worry, we have your name on our list of pending payments and your payment will be sent at the next pay cycle. After that your payments won't be delayed.

Dear Ajleroux,
Thank you for the quick feedback. I read somewhere on the LG site, that payments that are not executed for some reason (no PayPal account info in my case), will be annulled after 3 months.
Since two and half months passed from when I sold a logo, I am a little bit worried. Can you please somehow check the list, or help me some other way with this problem?

Thank you in advance.

I recently sold out one of my logo "House Lifting Hand" logo to a buyer on Friday-13-Apr-2018. After several revisions, the buyer approved my final logo on 24-Apr-2018..Then I immediately handover the final source files without delay. But I didn't get my payment..I'm not sure when my payment will be released because I was told that you pay funds on 24th of every month, but according to this project you can see its already too late with this whole procedure and I'm not sure when my payments will be released, I mean within 1 or 2 days OR I should wait for the 24th of the next month? Hi immoodesign,

I don't see how this in embarrassing or an injustice. We are upfront about the fact that we pay monthly, and we always pay everyone who has payments pending, every month. You are being treated the same as everyone else and in accordance with LG rules.

Your post can create the impression that there is a rule about paying twice per month and that we are breaking that rule. This is misleading. There is no such rule and there never was.

As a company that does not take a commission on your sales we have to keep the admin side of the business as cost effective as possible. Sending payments at a higher frequency adds too much to our admin workload. We had a related discussion here on the forum a while back about payments outside of the normal pay cycle:
https://www.logoground.com/discuss.php?topic=406

You are welcome to comment there on the proposed solution.

can you explain what it is ?

You can not access the logo upload feature at this time. Your account has been limited by a LogoGround administrator. Please see the message from LogoGround on your Overview page.

Please note that a limited account may still generate sales, but sales cannot be paid out to you until the limit is lifted. Funds not paid out to you within 12 months of it becoming due will be forfeited.

Please contact support@logoground.com as soon as possible.

i have abandoned the project for the clients and i dont know my logo has been sold for two months ago, and why i only paid for $40 not for $250 ?

@applesandpeachesclothing, when you first registered, you read about this situation, this was clearly indicated on the LogoGround user agreement, which you read in full, right?

I really don't understand how is it that many new designers are surprised about this important part of the agreement.

The thing is, you simply can't register without agreeing in full to the terms in the LogoGround user agreement. Unless of course you clicked on the checkbox without reading the user agreement. But why would anybody do that?

User Agreement, pay close attention to section 6:
https://www.logoground.com/user-agreement.php

Designer's handbook, which mentions this as well:
https://www.logoground.com/designerhandbook.php

Special page about abandoned projects, which is linked from the designer's handbook:

If you didn't respond to clients customization request in 24 hours, you don't get full amount, because logoground staff had to do the work for you. It would be unfair if you did all the work including customization and got 40 usd instead of 400 usd. There is a time limit in which you have to start customizing the logo and providing something for a client and that has to be respected. In case you missed a sale, well it takes 10 seconds each day to check logoground community page and see the new sales.

Hi applesandpeachesclothing,

I understand that you're not happy about this, but if you partake in selling on LogoGround, all the standard LogoGround rules apply to you, as it does to everyone. If you don't agree with this rule or any other rule, we are always open to discussing changes.

I saw your post and I saw that Ortega Graphics posted a response which answers your objection. I think it's great when community members help each other out by answering questions and I don't see the need for an admin to repeat the answer. Support requests sent via the contact form might not be answered right away, especially since you asked the same question here on the forum and received a good answer.

Thank you Ortega Graphics and eclipse42.

Inger, we can't promise that sale notifications will always reach you. More than 99% of notifications will probably reach you, but if you check the site once a day then you can be 100% certain that you will never miss a sale. Right now we're still working on the infrastructure upgrade for LogoGround. Once that is done, adding the opt-in function for the second email is high on our to-do list.

The handbook has a section that explains what is required of designers when a logo sells.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

how about if LG use a percentage cut instead of fixed $40? perhaps "the designer only obtain 25% of the price if they don't respond"

We have thought about that. It would not make a big difference, as the money it generates for LogoGround would have to be roughly the same so that we still make enough to pay the bills. A percentage share would benefit designers who sell more expensive logos. The flat rate that we have now benefits designers who sell logos at lower prices.

No real difference. A flat rate is just easier to implement and to explain.

@ajleroux, there is a LogoGround page from August 2013 that should be updated (or deleted), it still mentions a percentage for abandoned logos (maybe it was a typo).

https://www.logoground.com/100wtf.php

By the way, if you decide to delete that page, then you should request the removal from Google index as well and you should then edit this particular post to remove the link.

Hi Ortega Graphics,

Thanks, but I don't see an error on the page. It talks about no longer taking 15% on all sales (we did in the beginning) and it talks about changing from 40% to $40 for abandoned logos. It used to be 40%. In other words, at the start LogoGround took 15% on normal sales and 60% on abandoned logos. In 2013 that changed to 0% on normal sales and 100% - $40 on abandoned logos.

That page is now a little outdated though and I can see how it can cause confusion. Perhaps a rewrite is in order.

Sorry, I misunderstood the content upon first reading; maybe because of slight lack of context. Thank you for the explanation. Indeed there is no error on that page, but as you said, maybe it needs a rewrite.

Thanks,

If someone gets 40$ for 150$ logo that sounds good, but suppose the price is 500$ then the designer will get the same 40$.. that would mean that his INPUT equals less than 10%... that's not fair and democratic at all(!) All chances that such cases will drive designers (especially new ones) off LG, once and forever.

In my opinion, the percentage cut of 20% per 'abandoned logo' would be more acceptable.

This issue pushed me towards the IDEA of 'Last seen online' button, so before purchase the buyer could contact the designer who was absent for a long time.

Thanks Lavrin UKR and Genovius for the feedback.

I don't agree that it's unfair. Unfair would be hiding a policy in fine print. We are upfront about everything, including the way we handle abandoned projects. I can agree that this policy is tough on some designers. LogoGround is generous to designers who respond to their buyers and tough on designers who don't.

As always, we can discuss changes to LogoGround policies. Designer feedback is the main force shaping LogoGround. If we agree that we need to reduce LogoGround's take on abandoned projects, please also suggest alternative ways in which we can fund the operation of LogoGround. Right now, the money from abandoned projects pay the bills. If we give more of that money to the designers, money has to come from somewhere else so that LogoGround can continue to operate.

The current system has pros and cons.

Pros:
1. Designers can receive 100% (minus PayPal fees).
2. Designers control how much they receive.

Cons:
1. Designers unfortunately don't take the time to read. Some will see "100%" and stop reading.
2. The fact that LG generates money from abandoned projects opens us up to accusations of dishonesty. If a sale notification fails (even if it is on the designer's end), the impression is that LG wanted it to fail, or at least that LG isn't doing everything possible to ensure reliable delivery. The fact that we do notifications by the book is little consolation to the affected designer who doesn't feel like taking our word for it.

Suggestions welcome!

Lavrin UKR, the "Last seen online" idea is a good one, thanks. We have that on our to-do list. It is tricky to implement, but we have started tracking logins a few months ago.

As I mentioned on an earlier post above, it seems that many new designers are not taking the time to read the LogoGround user agreement upon registration. As I said before, the thing is, a designer can't register without agreeing in full to the terms in that agreement (there's a checkbox). So it baffles me when they are so surprised about this policy.

I honestly don't mind the policy about abandoned projects, because since I joined 1½ years ago, I have visited the website on a daily basis (as recommended). I know that I won't miss any project, even if for some reason an email doesn't reach me. Currently, the emails reach me, but I do not take chances, so as I said, I check the website daily. Furthermore, if I go on vacation, I simply pause my account to avoid any issues (or I bring a laptop with me, depending on the destination).

I wonder if there might be two types of designers that have abandoned projects: a) Designers that always take good care of their clients; these designers are happy to tirelessly work with the client until the client is 100% satisfied; and b) Designers who don't take good care of their clients; these designers feel bothered by clients and wish they didn't have to go through the customization process, these designer probably already have a bad track record with clients complaining about their bad service.

Designers in the first category (a) when they had an abandoned project, they just got unlucky; they were available to customize the logo, but simply forgot to check the website, the email(s) didn't reach them or maybe they forgot to pause their account during their vacation. Designers in the second category (b) when they had an abandoned project, they might have received the email, but they didn't care or they might have used an unimportant email account to register (which they don't check often enough), or even worse, they read the email, visited the website and decided to abandon the project on purpose (abandoning the project completely or partially).

You might guess where I'm going with this. Since logins and visits can be verified and since partially completed projects can also be verified, then the system should definitely penalized a designer that inarguably abandoned a project on purpose (and/or had a bad track record). And maybe the policy should be updated to give a less severe penalty to designers that have an excellent track record. Just an idea.

One more thing. If a second email option is implemented (and/or other methods are implemented) and this significantly reduces the number of abandoned projects (close to zero or even at zero), then how will LogoGround pay their bills in the future?

Just thinking out loud.

Hi, I'm new here, and i just read about this problem
I'm not sure weather this has been mentionned before, when we register, we get asked weather we re here as a full time job and part time job.
My suggestion is that part timers should get maybe an additionnal 1 business day to answer (maybe logoground should answer the client after the first day to reassure him).
I know that it means most people would choose then part time, but you can add a penalty to it, like a small fee from sales or a limit to monthly uploads.
